Artist: Donna J Wan
My photographer is Donna Wan. She as born in Taiwan but lives in San Francisco. She grew up in New York City. Her main subject matter is landscapes. Her photographs reflect her continual search to understand how perceptions and identities are shaped by the landscape. Publications such as Wired.com, Center for Documentary Studies Porch, Lenscratch, PDN, Feature Shoot, Forward Thinking Museum, Beautiful Decay, Profifoto, Conscientious, Fraction Magazine, Flak Photo, Real Simple and the New York Times Style Magazine have featured her work and interviews. Her work is included in several books including Landmark: The Fields of Landscape Photography, Thames & Hudson, and Summertime, Chronicle Books. Donna is represented by Rick Wester Fine Art in New York, NY. I chose this artist because she focuses on landscapes but specialized in in oceanography. As i am going on vacation to the Bahamas and will be surrounded by oceans it is only appropriate to photograph the oceans.
I tried to recreate the photos by Dana Wan by photographing the ocean as she did. I used different angles and tried to capture the water in different parts of the ocean i traveled through along with at different times of the day to get the different colors of the sky. I didn't use rule of thirds i just freely took pictures mainly focusing on the water. Most photos were taken horizontally besides photos 3&5.
