Portraits
Rebekah was the subject of the photos in the series. Rebekah's Elmo has a special meaning to her as it has been through her family for 20 years, and given to her by one of her older sisters. To show the importance and love Elmo had gotten from Rebekah I wanted to show the aging of the Elmo such as its taped up arm and all the wear of it what was captured in the last photo of the series. And because of the age of it it gives off a creepy aged look in which i embraced while having the photos darker and mysterious which was captured throughout the series. I photographed this using the LED lights and using a slower shutter to keep the photo darker. In the series To maintain the interest in the 6 photos, you can see the different positions of how Elmo slightly changed, but yet you can see the happiness and joy that the Elmo brings to her. While taking the photos, using the Rule of thirds helped to create a movement of the pictures along with using different angle, if showed the light in different ways capturing and highlighting certain parts of each element of the photos to tell a story.
Personal Identity
Identity
The first photo s a picture of my first tattoo i got on my 18th Birthday. It read "you are my sunshine" along with a sun. The writing is my mom's handwriting, she sang it to me every night before i went to bed as i grew up. My sister drew the sun as she brightens my life. The sun includes 12 rays as my softball number has been 12 all my life. The second photo is a picture of my other tattoo on my rib. The lotus flower represents peace, strength and grace. and the lotus being inside the arrow represents how when you shoot an arrow, it can only be shot by being pulled back. But when life is bringing you back with difficulties, its only going to launch into something great and bring you been further. So i just have to keep focus and keep aiming. The third photo is of my baby, Lily (or Mookie), and she is so cute and she is apart of me. The fourth photo is of my sister and I. She is my best friend and we are always together and she is a huge part of me. The photo was taken while we were at walmart as that is our favorite place to go. The fifth photo is of me and my mom. She is my biggest supporter and my back bine and without her i wouldn't be who i am today. The sixth photo is of a softball field as softball is my life, playing year round, especially in the summer i am always there.
